You could always shampoo the carpet or you can buy another one but look at this first have you got wood or concrete floor if its wood the water could have soaked into the floorboards hence where the smell is coming from, if you have concrete flooring then you should be okay but shampoo the carpet first then you will know for sure if the smell persists you have your answer good luck.
