Many evangelical pastors or conservative pastors preach to their churches to stay away from catholics?

if they will be friends with catholics it's because they will attract them to christ why is that? evangelicals are not friendly with catholics honestly even they seem? I hear a pastor to tell if you are going to have friend non-christians do it but attract them to christ.. I think he was referring to catholics, since they are minorities in my country yet but they are growing.
