Tried to make these cookies? Can you say FAIL?

Ok so I tried to make these Paula Deen triple chocolate cookies and the recipe called for baking soda but I had already mixed up everything else and I realized I have baking powder so I'm like what the hey you know I'll try it and see what happens and if it turns out bad I'll just buy some baking soda and do it over. So after I made the cookies and put them in I decided to Google using baking powder instead of baking soda and it said you can substitute but you will have to double it so I added more into the rest of the cookie dough but its so clumpy because of the chocolate chips that I don't think it got into all the cookie dough. The first cookies came out bad but I have so much cookie dough left so my question to you is... is there anyway I can save this cookie dough or do I have to trash it? I hate to waste it really. Also I have another question... it seems like the oven cooks everything super fast like way sooner than recipes call for so should I try a lower temperature or should I use the same temperature and cook it for less time or will they have the same effect?
